Vorpommersche Boddenlandschaft (Südbug), Bug, Dranske, Germany
Der Nationalpark Vorpommersche Boddenlandschaft
The largest national park on Germany's Baltic coast combines the roar of the wild and the sound of silence. It's famous for the Baltic Sea's unique lagoons – the „Bodden“ – and a constantly changing coastline. Over the centuries, the area has created an impressive mosaic of habitats with a diverse flora and fauna. Here, nature is allowed to develop within its own rules, true to the philosophy of all 16 of Germany's national parks: „Let nature be nature“.

Castle Ralswiek, Ralswiek, Germany
Ralswiek Castle
Ralswiek, which is more than one thousand years old, used to be an important maritime trading centre. Ralswiek is also an old settlement site and was fiefdom of various Rügen noble families. Hugo Sholto Count Douglas had the castle built between 1894 and 1896 according to designs by the Berlin architect Gustav Stroh. In 1913 the Marstall was built according to the design of the architect Franz Juhre from Stralsund. The park surrounding the house was laid out in 1810 and later extended and expanded by Count Douglas. The largely preserved interior furnishings (entrance hall, staircase, panelling,
door handles, glass windows) was partly designed by the important Art Nouveau architect Henry van de Velde. After the expropriation of the Douglas family after the Second World War, the castle was used as an old people's home and later as a disabled and nursing home for the German Red Cross.
Following the acquisition of the Raulff family, the castle was converted from 1999 to 2002 into today's Schlosshotel Ralswiek. 63 stylishly furnished rooms and two suites await you. Our elegant castle restaurant also holds the "Regional Food Culture" certificate. Every year from June to the beginning of September, the famous Störtebeker Festival takes place below the castle on the open-air stage in Ralswiek. From our terrace you have a wonderful panoramic view of the natural stage and the Great Jasmund Bodden.
